Take-out Tuesday – Overcoming the odds

Hey everyone this is Tristan again. Hope everyone has been doing well this week. I’d like to share with ya’ll a song I wrote, well technically a poem since I never put it to music haha. Last semester was a really rough time for me. I was born with clinical depression and so I’ve had to deal with that all my life. Last semester in particular was a really dark time in my life and I struggled through that with thoughts of suicide and almost attempting it on several occasions but God showed me a way through it all. I met a girl last semester who also deals with the same thing I do. Her heart was so heavy with hurt and pain and she couldn’t see herself as the beautiful daughter of God she is. I prayed and tried to figure out exactly what it was I would really like her to know and I ended up writing this poem. I wrote it for her to express what I believe what God wants us to know. That we are loved endlessly, He is always with us, and He knows the pain we are going through but He promises to walk with us through it and carry us through our pain and suffering. I related to the poem well when I wrote it because of what I deal with and maybe you’ve gone through the same. Even if it’s not depression, perhaps you’ve had a hard life and don’t know where to turn to or feel like no one understand what you are going through. The fact is there are so many hurting people all around us so we aren’t alone in our pain. God loves us and is with us every step of the way. I just encourage that if there is something that you are going through to reach out to someone and talk to them about it. You don’t have to feel alone because you’re not, none of us are. I hope this poem I wrote will just encourage you and give you hope to keep pressing through.
 “I’ll Be With You”

Don’t let go of my hand, I’ll hold you.
Don’t let go of the thread, just cling to,
me when you feel weak,
and you fall from your feet.
Don’t give up, I’ll be with you.
You’ve been hurt in the past,
I’ve been there too.
They placed scars on your heart,
from the things they do.
You’ve been fighting this disease,
all these years with no peace,
but don’t give up,
oh don’t give up.
Don’t let go of my hand, I’ll hold you.
Don’t let go of the thread, just cling to,
me when you feel weak, and you fall from your feet.
Don’t give up, I’ll be with you.
I know this life is so hard, but it’s a battle we must fight.
Sometimes you want to give up, but know that I’ll be by your side.
No matter how you’re feeling, in your highs and in your lows,
I’ll never leave you, I’ll always love you, and know I’ll never let you go-
Don’t let go of my hand, I’ll hold you.
Don’t let go of the thread, just cling to,
me when you feel weak, and you fall from your feet.
Don’t give up, oh don’t give up.
Don’t give up on your dreams, they will come true.
Don’t give up on yourself, you’ll make it through.
This storm will fade, and you’ll see a new day,
and the peace that you long for, will finally be yours.
So know there is a way, I am with you always,
so don’t give up, oh don’t give up, I’ll be with you.
