I apologize for posting so late in the night. I had a busy day today and I’m just now getting around to posting.
For Serving Saturday’s post, I’m going to write about the organization To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA). I’m sure most of you have heard of TWLOHA, but I’m going to reiterate their mission statement. “To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.”
I’ve had a desire to help this organization since I first heard of them. The reason I have such a big heart for people suffering with depression is because I used to be suicidal myself. I remember feeling trapped, as though I were in a room with no doors or windows to escape. I could scream, but no one would hear. There were times I threatened suicide and times I tried. I suffered from cutting myself off and on for a few years as a way to release the pain I was feeling inside. I pray that people will open their hearts to donate money to TWLOHA so they can distribute the donations to rehabilitation centers; I don’t want anyone to feel like there’s no hope.
If you want to get involved, there are plenty of options you can do.
1. Donate $$$$$.
You may send cash, check, and/or money order to:
P.O. Box 2203
Melbourne, FL 32902
They also accept PayPal as well (details are on their website).
2. Hold a fundraiser and inform the public of what TWLOHA does and how to show there’s hope.
3. Purchase TWLOHA merchandise.
There are tons of suggestions TWLOHA gives on how to get involved, these are just the top 3. If you want to read more for yourselves, here’s the To Write Love On Her Arms website: http://www.twloha.com.
I’ve also added a Social Vibe link on the right side of this blog. I’m able to switch which organization I want to support whenever I want, so I’m thinking about changing it every month. For the month of February, TWLOHA is being the organization supported. So what does this mean? What it means is that the more you view this blog and the longer you read each post, minutes are added to the overall amount of minutes read on the blog. The more minutes read, the more money is donated from Social Vibe to TWLOHA. However, the link is currently not working. I’ll keep you all posted on when it’s active.
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful rest of the weekend!
